Export a Subassembly from Polyline to Subassembly Composer

I'm wondering if there is any way to create a subassembly from a polyline, using the command in C3D, but then take that simple subassembly, and export it to a pkt, so that it could be opened in Subassembly Composer, and you could then add parameters and targets etc.

If this isn't possible, it would be a great feature add, so that we could draw out the basic shape/linework of a subassembly in AutoCAD, without having to create each point and link in composer. Then you would just be able to add/edit the parameters and targets that you need to make it a more dynamic subassembly.

No currently possible but an interesting idea to suggest in Civil 3D Ideas. The only real difficulty I see with this is that all the points would be defined as Delta X and Delta Y whereas if you were defining them directly into SAC you may define some based on slope criteria.

I agree that it could make as much work as it it would save. I was just hoping that there was a way, so that it would give me a starting off point.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers!

That would be a very urgent possibility. I could save a lot of time. I can imagine that composer clould import some difficult geometry maybe. Hi developers, wake up!

THis is a user sipported forum. There is very little Autodesk participation in this forum. @KMercier_C3D pointed @kboldt to the Civil 3D Ideas forum, which is to best place to make a suggestion like this and for other users to support it. The Ideas forum reportedly gets more attention from Autodesk.
