Exception in acmapagol.arx ARX Command Error on C3D Startup

Getting the subject error. I’ve had 2024 C3D for about 1.5 weeks now and just received this error. Cad will then freeze up and not work at all.

Autodesk was uninstalled then reinstalled as a a result but the error still persists. Any ideas?

Hello, we have the same message and had already found that Autodesk help page. We gave all the necessary permissions in those folders. In the registry we could not give the local user the necessary rights because it did not exist in the specified locations. Probably because the secondary installer could not run yet.

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for reaching out to the forum. A support ticket has been created for this issue, and I will be monitoring the case. I’ll provide updates as soon as I have more information. Thanks for your patience!

The problem persists with us too, we have already done all of this:
A clean reinstall-> same issue, even after doing a full cleanup of Autodesk from File Explorer, Control Panel, and the registry.
We even tried reinstalling some of the pre-requisites, like .Net Framework, video drivers and so on, but still same issue. It always gives the same error message.
We have restage the device with the Windows11 build we have to use.
We have also checked Event Viewer logs, and what we could find generated by the AutoDesk / Civil 3D software, but we can’t find anything relevant that could indicate what the issue is.
Does AutoDesk support know what logs to check and where, to find the cause of the issue?

I'd say it's time to start a Support Request. Either through your reseller of directly with Autodesk

We are aware of this issue and have been working with the development team. A sandbox fix has helped a couple of customers, we are requesting an official hotfix as soon as possible. We will update this thread once we have more details. Thank you for your patience!

Good news, everyone, and thank you for your patience!

The official hotfix is now available and has been uploaded to this post. The installation instructions are also included in the ZIP file, but we've added them here for ease of reference.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Back up the following files located in Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\Map:
    • AcMapAgol.arx
    • AcMapAgolConnector.dll
    • MapDlgExtension.dll
  2. Replace them with the attached files.
  3. Restart AutoCAD Map 3D 2024.

For more details, refer to the official knowledge article here.

Hello, we tested this fix on 2 devices for Civil3D 2024. On one device this solution works and on the other device it doesn't. On the latter device we get the error message in attachment. On the device where it does work we have already tried a lot of other things, probably something of that contributed to solving the problem. We will look into that tomorrow.

Thanks for testing the fix and sharing your results. Since the hotfix worked on one device but not the other, it’s possible that an additional step or setting might be influencing the outcome.

Could you check the following on the device where the issue persists?

  • Ensure that all three files were correctly replaced in Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\Map.
  • Verify that AutoCAD Civil 3D /Map 3D 2024 was fully restarted after applying the fix.
  • Check if any pending Windows or Autodesk updates might affect compatibility.

You can refer to the official knowledge article here for more details.

Let us know what you find after your further testing tomorrow!

Hi,
Is the cause of this problem known? The first batch of devices where this issue occurred was immediately after installing Civil3D 2024. Recently, we've also received reports from employees that Civil3D was working flawlessly for months and then suddenly displayed this error.
It would be helpful to know what's causing this so we can prevent it.

Hi Wendy,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to inquire if Autodesk has plans to implement a hotfix that supports updating deployments more efficiently across scaled network environments. While replacing files with a hotfix works as a temporary solution, it’s not ideal for managing large-scale deployments.

Could you share any updates or planned features that might streamline this process for network-wide updates? Any insights or timelines would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance!
