ERROR WITH LINETYPE FILE: acad.lin

Starting yesterday I noticed a few of my linetypes were wrong.  I have a stockade fence linetype with a line and box.  And a chain link fence with a line and circle.  And the zigzag.

I went to try to reload the linetype and I received the error: "Bad definition of FENCE METAL at line 120 of file..." and other errors for other lines.  It has been working the entire year of 2018 until now.

Here is a snippet from that "ACAD.LIN" file:

*FENCE METAL,Fenceline circle ---o---o---o---
A,0.075,-.03,[CIRC1,ltypeshp.shx,x=0.0,s=.02],-.08,.25       <----- this is line 120

*FENCE STOCKADE,Fenceline square ---[]---[]---[]---
A,0.075,-.03,[BOX,ltypeshp.shx,x=0.0,s=.02],-.08,.25       <----- this is line 123 (also an error)

*FENCE CHAINLINK, Fence Crosses ---X---X---X---
A,0.075,-.03,["x",STANDARD,S=.05,R=0.0,X=0.01,Y=-0.0175],-.08,.25       <----- no error for this line

So I am wondering if it's something with "CIRC1" and "BOX"???

I included my acad.lin file.

It appears to be the Ltypeshp.shx shape file has been replaced in your current file with one that does not contain the Box or Circ1 shapes.

Try using the design center to load those linetypes from another drawing that has then functioning correctly and I believe it will replace the shape file with one from the source file.

Make sure the ltypeshp.shx file is still where it can be found. The default location is: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2018\enu\Support

What is the "DESIGN CENTER"?

Any file I open in Civil 3D 2018 with those line-types comes up the same
way.

There was a computer guy here over the weekend. I wonder if he did
something?

Disregard my prior suggestion. I see now that this is affecting more than the current drawing and there may have been some change to your system by your IT person.

I believe the post by Jeff is your answer.

It is. 😞

See attachment. See my recent response.  I did a list of shapes.  It listed AECCLAND.SHX as a file with shapes in it and it had BOX and CIRCLE.  So I went into my acad.lin file and change the locations from ltypeshp to AECCLAND and the BOX and CIRCLE loaded.  No more errors for those.  But still have errors for ZIGZAG and TRACKS not loading.  So it seems my ltypeshp.shx is corrupted or something.  Is there a way to get this reloaded???

We just tried copying the ltypeshp file from another computer to mine (it had the same modified date).  But getting the same error.

I deleted MY ltypeshp.shx.  I copied my boss's file to my folder.  I closed ACAD and restarted and I have my line types back! 🙂

I believe it WAS the ltypeshp.shx file.

I deleted MY ltypeshp.shx.  I copied my boss's file from his computer to my computer.  I closed ACAD and restarted and I have my line types back!
