Elevation along line

Hi all,

I have some lines representing kerb string lines.  I need to grab point elevations along the lines, but the label tool only allows me to label elevations at the start and end of the lines.

Is there a way to get elevations along a line at custom locations?  I could break the line into many parts, but I was hoping there was a quicker way.

Hey @m_kingdon ,

I suggest the following:

  1. Use the POINT command to mark the exact location you want.
  2. Select your alignment and then click on Add Labels > Station/Offset - Fixed Point on the contextual ribbon tab (you can tick node snap setting or you can hold down the shift key and right click at the same time to choose the node snap option)

Hope this helps.

If you are labeling I'd look into some sort of label that grabs the elevation of the object you are snapping to. If all you want is an inquiry to see what the elevations are, try entering ID at the command line, snapping to the curb where you need the data.

Yeah - you can add a Note label and specify the Point elevation in the Layout components. It grabs whatever elevation you snap to. You could probably write some sort of expression to put curb top over flowline or flange or however you do it, if need be.
