DRAWING POLYLINES

I am new to Civil 3D. i have to trace roads, centerlines..etc using  a point cloud. How can you draw polylines on top and see what you are drawing?  We tried using 3D polyline, but it doesn't have the arc to choose while drawing.

It depends exactly what you are trying to do.  If you are trying to show them in 2d, I would draw polylines.

If you are trying to show them with 3d elevations, I would still draw polylines, then create feature lines from objects.  Then you can assign elevations based on the surface built on your point cloud.

use the elevations command to set an elevation above the point cloud to have the PL draw where it will be visible. You can convert to a FL with relative elevations later or change the elevations to '0' by selecting the lines and using the properties palette.
