Drawing may need recovery

I am having trouble xref attaching an existing dwg file originally created using Carlson Survey software, into a new dwg file created using Civil 3D 2024.

I am able to open the Carlson dwg file using C3D 2024, but I am not able to XREF this file.

Every time I try to XREF the Carlson dwg file I get a message "Error: Unable to load file. Drawing may need recovery."

I have run audit and recover on the original Carlson dwg file, but that doesn't work.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Can you Insert it?

Can you Attach and Query using AutoCAD Map? That's a commonly used way of bypassing drawing corruption, to capture those modelspace objects you want to save as a new file.

Thank you for the responses. I used the WBLOCK Purge process to repair the file.

One thing I'm curious about is why I'm able to open the file but not able to XREF the same file?
