I know in 2009 you can force the leader to point to the insertion for example when labeling a sanitary sewer manhole it normally points to the rim but 2009 you could change that to point to the center of the manhole.  Our company is currently using 2014 and when I go to the summary tab that option is no longer there.  Does anyone have a solution

The leader can be set to the insertion point by editing the "Point Style".

Edit the Point Style in use > Summary Tab > Marker > Leader stops at marker > No

That works for points, but when I am using a smart label, under pipe network labels, structure label styles  how do I get that to where the line or arrowhead is pointing to the center.

I've attached a picture to clarify what I'm trying to do.

@Anonymous, welcome to the forums! You got my interest piqued so I dug out an old laptop that still has 2009 installed. I see the same behavior there as I do in the more recent versions of C3D...no way to tell the leader to go to the center. Said laptop also has C3D2008 so I checked there, too. Same thing, leader goes to rim with no way to chnage it (that I could find anyway).

Jeff,

I may have mixed up a forum in the past with what I am trying to do now.  Do you know if this has been brought to Autodesk's attention to have that option?

I do recall this being discussed at one point, years ago, with the consensus being that it is working as designed, and it was designed this way so the arrowhead would not obscure the symbol. Now to muddy the waters...I have one project with some labels whose leaders DO go to the center of the structure and I have had mixed luck removing them (the plan checker has a cow if the symbol contains any linework not shown in the legend). I have yet to figure out what causes those leaders to behave that way.

I understand where the plan checker is coming from and the arrowhead obsurring the symbol, however; in our situation for manholes and inlets we don't use an arrowhead so there would be less obstruction I guess.  Thank you for your help!
