Dialog Boxes Appear Off-Screen

When I start up Civil 3D the dialog box appears under properties as a normal drag down.  After some time it begins to appear on another screen and when I move to click what I need, it disappears.  I have to scroll down in the properties box to get it to stay up so I can change what is needed.  If it is a property that does not allow scroll in properties I have to use the up and down arrows.

I've spent countless hours searching for a solution to no avail.

Thank you

Is your C3D2022 fully updated? Share a screenshot of your ABOUT command to confirm.

Is this a sudden new problem this week? Or only since you went to a 3-monitor setup?

We've always had dual monitors and and this is something that has occurred for as long as I can remember.

Hi @GcobbMTJJW, there's a way to reset all dialog box positions in C3D, but it means you have to edit your Registry.

In the Registry, path to:

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\Rxx.x\ACAD-XXXX:409\Profiles\profile name\Dialogs

I recommend backing up the Registry up before changes, but from here just either locate the specific dialog box OR right click > Delete the Dialog box folder.  This will just reset everything back to default for all dialog boxes.

Hello all,

We recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2024 and now the drop down box appears somewhere completely off screen.  I am not allowed to edit the registry and sent the previous comment to our help desk and they did what was suggested.  This worked for about 3 days and it started happening again.  We have hundreds of label types and this has become incredibly frustrating. Is there any solution to this?

There are often options in a Graphics Card Manager to allow you to "Force Windows on Display" of "Keep dialog boxes from opening off screen". Go through you're to see if you have any similar options.

Are you by chance using a laptop? I regularly have an issue when switching from laptop to multiple monitors. Fix is to set one monitor as a primary display and set the palettes on it before switching back to multiple monitors.

Neither of these options worked.  It resolved the issue but only for a limited time. I appreciate your efforts.
