Delete polyline segment using trime command

Anyone know the setting to allow using the trim command to remove entire polyline segments? ie the cutting edges are the node of the polyline itself

My system works as expected, but my coworkers system only removes what seems to be an arbitrary amount of the segment.

If you want to use Trim, you must have cutting edges that run through the vertices of the polyline being trimmed.

You could use Break to accomplish the same thing.

Edgemode or trimmode

This sounds like edgemode.  If you select the polyline as the cutting edge though it should work as you say. Without selecting a cutting edge it will use everything and cut into little segments if edgemode is set to 1 (the extension of any object)

You can simply control click a polyline segment and hit delete.

I was almost positive I had tried toggling both of those both ways but something still wasn't right.  Anyways, his system behaves like mine now so when I try to show him how do draw something, it works as expected.

I found out about the ctrl click accidentally once, it's a neat little feature.  I find it more useful though when trying to edit for example, one single station label of an alignment or some other group type element.

I've been using AutoCAD for 23 years and never knew about that.

Hi Ranjit

Is there a system variable that controls this function. I am currently using AutoCAD 2018 but have had no success using the trick that you suggested.
