Hello!

Can you kindly let me know if this is possible and what is the process of doing this?:

> Using the Data Clip Boundary to make the file smaller and reduce the size of the surface.

Appreciate any help on this inquiry.

Thank you very much!

Yes, this is possible. The purpose is to limit which data are added to a surface.

Create a polyline that represents the Data Clip Boundary.

Create a Surface. As the first step, add the Data Clip Boundary. Now add any point, contour or breakline data. Points outside the Data Clip Boundary will be ignored, not added to the surface, making the surface smaller.

The difference between this and Outer Boundary is that all data you specify are added to the surface, even if you have specified an Outer Boundary. They may not be displayed, but those data are in the surface.

Thank you Tim!

Is it okay to ask for a screencast sample of the process?

Cheers,

Denise

You can also create the data clip boundary later in the process, then open the surface properties dialog and reorder the list of build operations so that it's at the top of the list.
