CV3D 2026 MAPIINSERT command not working with image on network

Hi all,

We are a land surveying firm that does drone flights on all our our projects and store the final JPEG and world file on the network project folder. Since installing CV3D 2026, the MAPIINSERT command will not recognize the world file in the network folder. However, if I move the image onto my local machine, it works fine.

Does anyone know how to correct this or if there are plans to correct the bug? This issue has our office in an uproar because we use it for every single project.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Try reducing the number of characters of the ortho and/or # of folders to get to the image. If it works local, that usually is a tell that you are reaching max character length drilling too far into the server to connect to the image.

Michael,

Thank you for the response. Please see the attached screenshot showing the file path of the image on our server. It doesn't appear to be anywhere near the 128 characters.

I took the same image and put it on the desktop and it worked perfect. It leads me to believe its a network issue.

Any thoughts?

Interesting you're right that the path length looks fine. Only other thing I noticed was that "+" symbol in your server path. Maybe remove that and try 🙂

Hi Josh,
Autodesk knows about it and is working on a fix. It's a Vanilla AutoCAD bug, so make sure you check updates for AutoCAD as well as Civil 3D and Map 3D.

Hi all,

@Pointdump is correct, the software engineering team is actively working to address this incident in a future AutoCAD update. For now, try reverting image handling and setting the IMAGEASYNC (System Variable) = 0

Hope this helps for the near term,
