Custom Pressure Network Part Insertion Point Incorrect

I am working on creating a custom valve for use in Pressure Networks. I have a 3D solid of the part saved in DWG format, and have followed the necessary steps in the PartPublishingWizardUsersGuide to create a .CONTENT of my part, add it to a catalog, and then add it to a pressure network within Civil 3D. The issue I am seeing with this created part is that when I insert it into Civil 3D, the valve does not insert at the center. Instead the valve insertion point is half the length of the part off center. I will attach a PDF explaining this situation further, but I cannot figure out how to get this insertion point to be the center of the valve like all other valves are that come standard with C3D.

Thanks!

Hi @hestingjj,

Since you already have a 3D solid, do the connection points show up properly there when using the AUTODESKCONNECTIONPOINT command? What happens if you just delete the ones you currently have and try recreating them and then creating a new .CONTENT file?

The connection points come in fine on the 3D solid and when the pressure part is added to a model the pipes connect to it in the correct spot. The issue I'm having is with the insertion point of the pressure part. Typically, when you add a pressure part from one of the generic pressure part catalogs, the insertion point for that part is the center of the part. For the part that I have created, the insertion point is not the center for some reason. I don't know of a way to set the insertion point when creating the .CONTENT file. What I read about this was that AutoCAD will automatically use the center of the part as the insertion point, but for some reason it is calculating that point incorrectly for my part. I have attempted to create multiple different parts and have this same issue repeatedly.

If you would prefer, I can upload a DWG containing the 3D solid of the part I am trying to model, and you can try to create the pressure part on your machine. Maybe I am just missing a step here. The file I have attached contains a simple 3D solid of a valve with 6-inch openings to connect to 6-inch pipe.

Thanks for adding the file @hestingjj. So there isn't an issue with the insertion points for the connected pipes, the part itself is inserting incorrectly.

Did you manually add a center line to your part before creating the .Content file? You need that for step 2 of the .CONTENT creation process. I wonder if that's what is causing it to insert at a weird point for you.

Hi @hestingjj,

Wanted to check if my previous post was able to help. If it resolved the issue, can you select the Accept Solution button so it may help other users that run into the same issue?

If not and you ended up resolving it on your own, can you post what you ended up doing?

Thanks!

The issue was with the centerline not being correct on the custom part. Thanks for your help!

I'm using Infrastructure Parts editor to create my pressure pipe parts. When I publish the parts they models are automatically created and they all come with an offset insertion point. How do I correct it in this case where I don't manually create the parts using centre lines and 3D modelling? To be specific, the valves coem in with an incorrect offset of 254 and -254
