Current Drawing Tab Loses Focus

In the last few months, since we upgraded to 2017 from C3D 2016, the command line glitches out and refuses to accept commands.  I noticed a few days ago that it seems to be switching to the background drawing tabs, if I have any open.  I'll start typing a command and it sometimes gets one character on the screen and then stops taking anymore typing.  Sometimes I don't even notice until I hit enter and nothing happens.  I switched tabs the other day and there was all, or part, of my command in the command line.  It seems to happen while the current drawing is autosaving sometimes, but as I don't always wait for the autosave to save my stuff and I can't see what's happening in the background drawings, I don't know that this has any bearing on the problem.  The only solution I can think of is to not have more than one drawing open at a time, but that doesn't really seem very feasible.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

This was a much more prevalent problem in Civil 3D 2013, before a patch was released to deal with it. But I have a user topday, who is having the same complaint as you, in 2017.

I wonder if turning off level of display works as a solution in 2017 also?

Is a 4K monitor being used? If so, the new 2018.1 update SHOULD fix that.

Nothing to do with monitors.

This is the bug where you are typing commands in the current drawing, but the text is going to the command line of another open drawing in the background.

When it happens I use Ctrl+Tab to get it back to the correct drawing. I don't do a lot of design work recently, so I encounter the problem less and less. 

I also noticed it happened less after I got a new computer. It might be a Windows Update issue. I was thinking about creating an app that would track what was active, but I lost interest in the problem.

I've seen it in 2015 but thought it was a crumby keyboard. Got a new kb and don't see in 2017

Just happened again. LevelofDetail was off in both drawings. I got some errors in the drawing I was not focused on.

That's weird. It indicates AutoCAD is switching documents, but still returning objects from the other document as the cursor is moving. It might be possible to have the SincPac monitor for the document change in this code and if it's different make the correct document current.

That is quite odd, as we get the current document from the Acad Application with each move of the cursor. This tells me that even the Autocad application doesn't know the document switched.

The problem solution is to minimize the drawing window and then resize.  The corrects the problem of not being able to type in your commands.  I don't know what's creating the problem but that's the solution that our office came up with locally.

We are getting the same issue on every single dell precision M6600 and even our newer 7710. 

Switching back to another drawing and then back again on the tabs seems to correct it. 

strangely if you use the dynamic commandline (F12) this is not effected.

Definitely another bug in 2017.
