Cross Section Scale

First, I'm an engineer not a drafter so you have to talk slow to me.

I attached 2 pictures. One is of the profiles I created and one of the cross sections I created. They are both set to the same scale in their appropriate syles but the cross sections are coming in way too small.

My drawing scale in model space is 1:50 our normal text height is  .125, the text on the profile and sections works. But is there a way to exagerate the section itself? Scale it up if you will. My alignments, corridor, profiles and sections are all in the same drawing. No data shortcuts, xrefs, etc.

The exageration can be set/adjusted in the section view style. Select the sction view grid, right click and choose section view properties and edit it from there, or go to the section view styles on your settings tab.

What Horizontal scale are the sections supposed to be?

We have separate template for cross sections which has a different model space scale.

Our base dwg Model scale is typically 1"=30'

Our Section dwg Model scale is typically 1"=10'

The main reason we have to base files is because the software will scale the vertical factor automatically within both Section View Styles and Profile View Styles. The styles create a vertical exaggeration based on the H / V =

To see what I'm getting at, take a look at the section view style & profile view style in your dwg.

Settings Tab of Toolspace > Profile View > Profile View styles > your style > edit > Graph tab

Settings Tab of Toolspace > Section View > Section View styles > your style >  edit > Graph tab

It's very difficult to use the same source drawing for profiles and section views when MS scales don't match.

Perfect!! That is what i needed. So i have to have separate model space scales for my base, sections, and profiles.

For those of you wondering it had nothing to do with the exaggeration due to the fact that the horizontal exaggeration is set off of the drawing. So I could only end up with a really tall section view but wasn't proportionally wide. My fix, to which I do not know if there is a better. I left my profiles in the base drawing at a 1:50 scale (model space) and I linked a new drawing for sections with a 1:10 scale (in model space). I edited the section\profile scales in the style on each accordingly. I would think there is a way to have them both in the same drawing but i didn't know how.

There is an easy way to get the horizontal scale the way you want (I assume this is what you're after?): go to your drawing scale in modelspace, change it to the desired scale (i.e. I'm making longsections currently @ 1:100 horizontal). Once you've done this, go back to your Profile View Styles and change the vertical scale to what you want (I'm using 1:20). Should be all good.

Lachlan
