Creating points along an alignment to include deflection angle in description

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to generate points along an alignment and have the deflection angles automatically generate, in the description of the point. I alwyas generate points (for staking) along an alignment by using the point creaction tool and selecting "at geometry points" this will auto generate points at PI's with stationing, but I always have to manually measure the deflection angle & then manually edit the point so that the field crew can write the deflection angle on each PI stake along with the stationing. I know i've seen this done before but I cannot figure out how to make the program auto generate the deflection angle. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

This sounds like a job for DLPoints (quuxsoft.com).

I think if you go to alignment grid view, you can easily copy those PI data to excel.

Any reason why you don't want to export the alignment to LandXML? Most survey controllers can read LandXML files. It is a much better way to stake alignments.

I am able to pull the frid view up & see the bearing / direction of the line - but Im still not seeing how to generate the deflection angles along the alignment at PIs.

FYI, if you export to LandXML, the surveyors will have all the geometry, including spirals, profiles, stationing, equations. They can stake anything they need from the alignment...PI's, curves, any point at any station, etc. And they can see the linework as they work in the field.

That would be exactly what im looking for. Im trying to figure out the LandXML process now, but Im not having a ton of luck getting the controller to read the LandXML file, i get an error that says "No Points Imported"

@mike_vic_anderson , I've added the option to the Sincpac to include the deflection angle when setting points on an alignment. This is not yet in the shipping version. If you'd like to try it out, shoot me an email to support@quuxsoft.com

You would use the DisplayAlignProf tool and set it to show the Geometry points,

then select the Generate Points button and set the offset location for the points and how to format the description.

You could add to what I show here so it includes what the angle is specifying, like so:

%s%, %d%, Deflection: %a%
