I am trying to create a surface by importing a .tin file. I get an error message stating "Be sure both .tin and .pnt files are present."

Why is it asking for a .pnt file?

There is no standard for writing TIN files and Autodesk an dBentley have different format TIN files.

THe command you are using is expecting a TIN file from a Land Desktop (LDD) project and if you go to any LDD project, browse the folder structure into the dtm folder....there are more folders. One for each surface/DTM in the project. Each of these folders has a TIN file and a pnt file that are both associated with the surface. You need them both to import.

If someone is sending you the data either ask them to zip the dtm folder in a land desktop project.

A better way that will also work with Bentley DTM's is to export an xml file.
