Create Points Directly to Point Group

Hi Everybody:

I create a new point group (TEST POINT) and placed (position) it in the first line of point groups (Primary Point Group). But when I create a series of points using the command: create points => Alignment => Profile Geom Points, they are not included in the created (TEST POINT) group, (they are included to other point group).

I don't know if this is the best solution for you but it might give another insight on your problem. 
When creating the points I usually have the Promp for descriptions on "Automatic - Object". This will give your new points the Raw Description matching the object from where they were generated, in this case, "TOPO - 04 Surface (2)"

When you create your point group you now simply have to put in the "Include" tab "With raw descriptions matching:" "TOPO*". If you include the * after TOPO it will automatically find every raw descroption that includes TOPO.

Maybe there's an easier way but that's my input.

One way to do that would be to creath all the Alignment => Profile Geom Points points in a certain point number range. Create the Point Group based on that number range.

You are absolutely right. But my problem is not in filtering the generated points by name or number.

My problem is why these points are not directly added to the points group like importing points from a text file.

They should be there the next time you update the Point Group. If they're not. Show us what you've been doing.

Maybe it is a rule that when we import the points from the text file, they are directly entered into the point group created.

But when we want to create new points based on surface or alignment or profile........,
we cannot directly enter them into a new point group (by default they add to All Points Group).

I do not know (Of course, if this is the case, this law seems correct).
I will be very happy if you inform me if this law exists.

All I know is that if you have a point group that is defined to include point numbers 1200-1300 and you create points within that range. Once you update the point group. Those points will be included.

I think you have a misunderstanding of how point groups work. When you create points, they are not added to any point group at all. The point group itself controls which points are a part of it. A point can be in all the point groups, a few point groups, or just the _All Points point group. If you want newly created points to be included in a point group, that point groups definition must be set up in such a was as to include the new points (such as by point number as Allen suggested or by description as 1191174 suggested).

On a side note, the _All Points point group is hard coded into the program, can't be deleted, can't be renamed, and can't have which points are included in it changed. It contains all points in the drawing, always and forever.
