Corridor widening - Overlapping offset alignment for curbs

Hi All,

I am currently trying to model a road with widenings on side for on-street parking.

I have created two offset alignments to be used as targets:

- 1 : valley gutter between edge of pavement and parking space

- 2 : outside curbs (curving)

My issue is at the curb return where the two curbs are intersecting.

The corridor doesn't build properly probably because the two targets are overlapping.

Could you please tell me what's the best approach to this?

Thanks

Hi,

Have you tried with conditional horizontal targets.

Morning !

I was unfamiliar with it but I agree that would be the best solution, however I am struggling to get it working properly.

Could you please have a peak and let me know what I am doing wrong (error coming from targets or maybe the sub-assembly). See attachments. FYI, I just try to get the right side of lane working for now.

It's a basic carriage way with on-street parking.

Attachment 1:

I created two polylines along edge of pavement (main lane).

One to be used as target for the widening (target found), the other for straight part (target not found)

Attachment 2: View of the corridor i am getting

Straight part: The curb, boulevard et... are being omitted for some reason

Widening: Second curb line between sidewalk/parking is straight, how can i make it follow the curve

(adding a target for curbgutter subassembly?)

Attachment 3: picture of target mapping

I would really appreciate if someone can help me figure this out.

Thanks

I'm not exactly sure what you are concerned about. In the following image, you have the curb alignment that is no longer parallel with the baseline. Because of this, the curb doesn't follow the linework correctly. Is this the issue?

If it is, there are a couple options.

  1. Use an assembly for those areas that end where it hits the target. Then create a new assembly that has the rest of the design cross section and apply that to a new baseline that consists of the target.
  2. Use an offset assembly in your assembly.

The problem I'm seeing here is that your assemblies are always applied perpendicular to the baseline and they don't change direction when they hit the target. Using the target as a baseline can alleviate this but your sections lines may not line up. The offset assembly within an assembly does exactly what I described, the offset assembly will be applied at the stationing of the original section but will be perpendicular to the target.

Hope this helps.
