Corridor transition between assemblies: daylight basin

Hi everyone. I'm trying to model an embankment, created as a corridor (editing the geometry through allignment and profile). I need the wall to have different heights on different portions with specific slopes: I made different assemblies for each case, with the same target (existing ground surface). Let's take the assemblies A and B as examples: they're created with the same daylight subassembly tool, chosen from the default given tools. They just have different heights and lenghts.

I would like to obtain a smooth transition between the 2 sections (connecting A1-B1, A2-B2, A3-B3, A4-B4).

I think I need to create another region in between, where the transition will take place, with an additional assembly.

I can't find the way to do it.

(If I leave an empty gap between the 2 regions, the corridor will have a missing portion).

Help please!

Have you tried to create an additional region between A and B, that will follow some horizontal and vertical targets (i.e. featureline) to create a smooth transition between regions?

Thank you for the fast reply. I tried to manually draw feature lines (with 'creating feature line') that connected the A1-B1... etc. vertices (you can see one green line in my previous image that survived from a previous attempt). In the end I couldn't set them as horizontal-vertical targets because I don't know where to give this kind of instructions. Would you mind giving me some more detailed advices about your method? (I'd like to know, for example: do I need to set these targets in the corridor properties or in the assembly/subassembly given to the new region? Indeed do I need to crate a new assembly for the new region?). Thank you so much.

Hi @Anonymous 

 

It's hard to predict, as I don't know exactly what type of subassemblies you used. 

 

Basically, we set up targets in the Corridor Properties upon Parameters Tab.

However, not all of the subassemblies allow for horizontal/vertical targeting.

The best way is to create a new assembly that contains subassemblies that can be targeted, and use it in a new "transition" region.

@Wojtek_Garczewski thank you, it's clearer now! I succeeded in making my transition region, with three feature lines (check out the image), used as targets by my three subassemblies (LinkWidthAndSlope). It worked great, that's a pity that the feature lines do not adapt when I modify my corridor, and the transition region will need to be fixed manually by snapping the feature lines again to the edges of the contiguous regions. I just wish you could deny that!
