Corridor: How would you do this?

Corridor:  How would you do this?

I have a project that is laid out in a grid pattern (see attachment for basic layout concept).  For creating corridor(s), how would you do this?

1. One corridor all linked together with intersections and baselines?  (Seems overly complicated and a crash waiting to happen)
2. A different corridor for each street either north/south or east/west with elongated intersections meeting mid-block?
3. Something else?

I've done many corridors and intersections, but never something this "grid-like".

The "Crash waiting to happen" would be more of an issue if an assembly from one road needed to target part of an assembly in a different road (which could be done using marked points).  I don't think it would be too much of a concern on that front.

The intersections will want each leg of the intersection in the same corridor anyway, so I'd be inclined to try running it all as one corridor.

Would it matter that I have gone back to doing intersections the old-school way?  I became dissatisfied with the intersection wizard (or whatever you call it) some time ago.

I would go with opt 2 "elongated intersections meeting mid-block" its easier to handle file size issues on plan production and cross section plotting.

I use option 1 extensively. Small project, large project, one corridor. I use a mix of the Intersection tool and the 'old way' at intersections.

I have a project that I've been working of since 2008, which has had numerous design changes along the way (thank you client, City, County, salamanders, rare flowers, & economy). I have used the same DWG file for the roads (alignment, profiles, corridor) for every iteration along the way, editing the different areas as needed (added streets, removed streets, realigned streets bot horizontally & vertically). It now has 16 intersections, 2 knuckles, curved alignments, and in all this time it has not crashed even once. It does take a few minutes to load in it's final state, but I think it's worth not having to maintain multiple corridors (especially if you place them in separate drawings to help with the speed).
