Hi everyone, I used the Extract from Surface -> Extract Solids from Surface tool to create a solid (geological layer). I would then be able to import it in an other software that seems to only accept TIN surfaces.
When I performed the solid creation, I believe my solid is only composed of lines instead of triangles (TIN surface?) I need this solid to be defined by triangles in order to import it in an other software. I have looked everywhere how to transform a solid to TIN but have failed.
He is an image of my problem:

Would you be fine by exporting the Triangles instead of Solids? Do Export Objects and then check only Triangles
Id be fine with that, except at the moment only the top and bottom of my solid are triangles, the sides (which have been extrapolated from the top and bottom) consist of 4 corner faces. I need to convert those to triangles.
Best regards,
Phil
Would the other software be able to import an XML of the surface? LANDXMLOUT
If you have vertical sides then a TIN won't work as the triangulation algorithm doesn't allow this - you would need to create small horizontal offset

Your 3dSolid would have to be converted to (2) two TinSurfaces, one of the the top, the other of the bottom. The Skirt (which is 4 point faces) was added by the convert to solid tool. You should have these as the source of the solid since you were able to create it.
Yes I do have those two triangulated surfaces. I want to make a solid out of them, with the sides being triangles too.
If the other software only reads TIN surfaces, then creating a solid is the wrong workflow.
Use LandXMLOut command to write your Civil 3D surface to LandXML format, then import that file into your other software. If it reads TIN surfaces, then it most likely reads LandXML.
I think I'll tell a little more about my problem:
Starting point : I have two could dots, respectively representing the top and bottom of a geological layer
Expected end point: I want these two layers to become the top and bottom of a solid which is comprised of triangles.
I can already import the surfaces in y other software, I want to import a solid with triangular surfaces in it. At the moment, when I import it, it only shows as a set of segments which cannot be represented spatially.
Best regards,
Phil
I may be misunderstanding the question a little; but after you extract a solid between your top and bottom surfaces, simply explode it twice! that will result in AutoCAD lines and they will be triangles containing the elevations; in other words it is a tin.

Still not solved.
Lets try an other way: I have a 3d solid that is made out of triangles and 4 segments polygons. I want ALL the faces to be triangles (to be represented in my other software)

Phil
