Convert feature line arc to line

How do I change a feature line arc section to a line? I see there are three commands to go from lines to arcs, but I can't find the command for the reverse.

I did just notice that sometimes when I add a PI it will split the arc segment into two lines. Sometimes it will split into two arcs. Does anybody know what controls this?

Trial and error adding/deleting PI's works but is not very reliable.

I was able to consistently delete the curve in the feature line by adding PI before and after the curve then deleting the PIs at either end of the curve.

Deleting only one of those PIs gives me an arc with no tangency on one side, then deleting that one gets rid of the curve.

But i would just edit curve, then type d for delete, and remove the curve.

This post illustrates remov\ing the curve the best

Try the Edit Curve On Modify Tab/Edit Geometry. This will allow you to edit the FL Curve Radius and make it tangent. Also, prior to clicking - in command line there is option for delete. Lastly if you have a curve between two lines, I'd draw a new FL Line between curve end points, then trim the feature line and re-join the feature lines back up. All from this same Tab/Panel. See attached.

The edit FL curve radius tool does not allow for infinite radius. I thought about using a giant radius, but that doesn't really solve the problem. If I break the feature line, it will also break my surface. I have the case where I have a closed featureline (a pond) and a surface built from my grading ground and I want to change a section of my featureline from an arc to a line without rebuilding my surface.

I see. Here's another solution.

Draw a couple of lines (for temporary reference) over the feature line in the area you want to remove arc. Then use the delete PI on one of the endpoints of the arc to remove it from the feature line. (Note you may need to test this twice if it deletes a line instead of the arc - switch it other PI if so). Then use the PI command to reinsert the PI point where needed from the reference lines. Delete the reference lines.

Not the best solution but it will keep grading intact and achieve what you are looking for.

Can you delete the feature line between the to points and then draw in a polyline how you want? or explode the feature line into a 3d polyline and edit from there.

Thanks. Yeah, this is what I was looking for. It's easy to see in feature lines that are not closed.

For reference,

Deleting a PI from a feature line makes the two segments take the form of the first segment.

(Deleting the PI removes the last segment from the feature line)

Example:

Arc-PI-Line

Delete PI and it turns into an arc.

Thanks , You helped me a lot,
Good old Command Line that we don't look at sometimes, And they want to get rid of it, But thanks to AutoDesk that still listen to the users and left it if old school draftees still want it..
