Command Prompt quits accepting commands after period of time

I'm working in Civil 3d 2019.  Has anyone had an issue where you are working w/ the command line dialog (not attached to your cursor) and life is good for a substantial period of time and then all of a sudden, anything you type fails to show up in the command line?  I've found you can click on the tab of another open drawing and switch to it and then come back and miraculously you can type in your prompt once again.  Usually to save it!  But this will continue to happen randomly until you  close the dwg and then re-open it.  Then maybe after an hour or so working in it, the same symptoms may show up again.  Really frustrating on so many levels.  Thoughts anyone?

When I read your post's title, I was going to tell you to do exactly what the body of your post describes. Other than that, it's a known issue that having multiple drawings open simultaneously sometimes causes input errors.

You found the workaround. As far as there being a fix, I don't think so, but someone correct me...please.

Ugh, not the answer I was hoping for, but at least I can work around it.
Thanks for your help.

This is a similar work-a-round.  Just change from model space to layout or vice versa.  This MAY work as well.

Has no one found a solution? This is happening to me all the time, very annoying. Can we get someone on here from Autodesk to look into this? I key in almost all my commands and have to fight this over and over.

Agreed, this has been going on for years. It needs to be fixed. I find it only happens when I have multiple drawings open, and if I switch to one of the other dwgs, hit escape a few times (b/c it was trying to do my command in the wrong dwg) then jump back to my original dwg it brings my command line back to life… at least temporarily. Till the next brainfart.
