Civil Engineering Data Translator Conversion Failure

I am currently using the "Civil Engineering Data Translator" to attempt to convert a .dtm file into a format compatible with Civil 3D.

Unfortunately many of the files once uploaded ultimately fail. I believe this may be due to the size of the files (700MB & 350MB).

Is there anything else I can do to convert these files?

Where does the .dtm file originate?

So you are 'translating' from Bentley MS, correct? What's your source file extension?

For your source, it only supports dwg, dtm, alg, tin, or gpk. Is your 'translation type' Geopak? If Geopak, then you can get files C3D can read.

Yes this is correct. I am looking to translate a .dtm file created in MicroStation to a Tin or LandXML file understandable by Civil 3D.

We have contacted the company who issued us the file, and have been informed that for reasons that were not made clear, we cannot or will not be issued the file in an alternative format.

So far the "Civil Engineering Data Translator" has been able to convert smaller files from the same source. It is on the larger file which it fails.

I've had a similar issue - where small files convert fine and one larger one doesn't. I know the file is OK because I sent it to Autodesk to test (and I have converted it previously on a earlier converter versions - but misplaced the converted file)

Autodesk's suggestion was to try it on another computer. Not sure why this would have any influence - but that's my next step.

I'm experiencing the same issue trying to translate a DTM file from InRoads.  One file that is 47mb converts fine, the others that range in size from 87mb-724mb fail every time.
