Civil 3D 2017 XREF Data Object XREF Linetypes

In Civil 3D 2017, we have been struggling with an issue where Survey Figures (The Only Data Objects that we XREF) display in the Production Drawings, or other drawings that they are referenced into, with the wrong Linetype (selected at random by AutoCAD.)

Our initial solution is to force the XREF to be Relative path, even if the Path was already Relative. Which initially solves the problem. However, we are still unable to Publish with the Sheet Set Manager. This will cause the Linetypes to "randomize" again. We are able to plot each sheet one...at...a...time...

We have also noticed on the rare occasion that we XREF a Surface that the Contour Linetypes also Randomize.

1. Are we the only one's experiencing this issue?

2. Has Autodesk fixed this with a patch, SP, Hotfix, and we are unaware?

3. Is there a better work around? (BTW, Exploding the Survey Figures causes a host of other issues)

4. Is this problem resolved in 2018 or 2019?

I don't know anything specific about it. But if you plot with a CTB. You can assign a linetype by color. That might be a workaround.

does setting the layer state to what you want and VISRETAIN to 1 help? Or, is there are conflict in the survey figure style layer & linetype settings?

Thanks for the suggestion, Allen. I will take a look at the solution. I initially wonder about the extent of change that this would require to our current Template and Plot Standards for an issue that may resolve itself in the next version of the software.

However, 1. It would only affect our Survey Colors which are limited and 2. you've peaked my curiosity at this possible solution.

I will let you know how this shakes out

drenaudUnfortunately, It does not. It is not a matter of Layer States.

Example,

In the Source drawing, The Forest Survey Figure Style is set to Linetype BYLAYER, The Layer is set to Treeline (It looks like a Rev Cloud)

When it is XREFed into a drawings using the exact same template. The style and Layer are settings are exactly the same

Drawing 1 Trees appear as waterlines

Drawing 2 Trees appear as Continuous

Drawing 3 Trees appear as Wetland Linetype

In all cases VISRETAIN is set to 1, Xlist returns with the entity on the extree layer, linetype BYLAYER and The Laer is set to the Treeline Linetype

If I right-click on the XREF in the XREF Palette and select Path> Make Relative... Bam! Linetypes corrected! Even though the XREF was initially attached as Relative Path.

I've only seen this once in 2017, when we were using the referenced styles feature.  our solution was to delete the style references and then remove them from our template.  truth be told we did not try the feature in 2018, although 2018 had it's own layering issues fixed by 2 updates and a hotfix.

We are using Referenced Styles. Let me test to see if that's the cause
