(Civil 3D 2016) Toggles in Status Bar

I append an image showing the appearance of my Civil 3D 2016 screen.  As you can see, there are no toggles for the snap, ortho, grid, etc., visible, even though STATUSBAR is set to 1 and the options for these are checked.  

 

 Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

They moved them over to the right. They are visible in your picture.

Learn to use your Function keys on your keyboard.  F7 thru F10 are the toggle keys for those commands.

Feh. I know these keys. What i sought was a way to see onscreen at a glance the status of the subject settings. The microglyphs will have to do.

What you want is already a part of CAD.  Highlight indicates on/off
