CHANGE COMPARISON OR BASE SURFACE ON VOLUME DASHBOARD

Morning.

I have a volume dashboard calculation and inside each one I have like 10 boundaries.

Question: Can I change or edit this volume to change my comparison surface or base surface ? and change the volumes automatically

I dont want to create all this boundaries again, it will be a 1 or 2 days job.

Regard,

Not directly, no. But with a bit of setup it's quite simple to do this.

Create 2 Surfaces, I name them Base and Comparison Smiley Happy Paste the surfaces you need to get the information from into their respective Base or Comparison surface. Use these surfaces for your volume calcs.

Since you already have your dashboard setup, copy the surfaces currently being used. Rename the 2 original surfaces as described above, delete all of the surface definition data from each one, then paste in the surfaces you want to use.

Using this method you can now add/remove the surfaces you've pasted as needed.

I like Jeffs idea - lots of flexibility there.

Regarding swapping base and comparison surfaces, I submitted an idea on that a while ago: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-ideastation/allow-base-and-comparison-surfaces-to-be-... Give it a kudo if you think it's worthwhile

This will not work if the surface I want to modify is already used in several profiles, it will change the profile as well?

Any option aside from this solution?

thanks

An old post, but has helped me out big time, sometimes it's just the simple things you never think of 🙂
