Navigate to C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2017\enu\Support
acad.lin is the file you are after. It can be edited with notepad. Make sure your custom linetype is included and copy onto your server somewhere.
Then go through the process of adding a support path to everyone's cad that points to that location. After cad is closed and reloaded, everyone should be pulling linetypes from the same file.
Sounds like you could possibly have a custom shape (.shx) file loading that the other users are missing?
Check Options > files tab > support file search path > check these locations for any .lin & .shx files.
My problem is that the custom line type isn't shown in my acad.lin file and I don't know where it is. I can't share it until I can find it. Is there a way to trace down the source of the line type definition?
Since linetypes are stored in the drawing after being added I don't think there is a way in OTB Acad to find their source. You can use windows file explorer to search your hard drive for .lin files and then look in each to see which holds your line type. *.lin files open and are edited in note pad.
If there are formats/styles that are not saved in the drawing (custom shape files, font files, etc.) you can use e-transmit to generate a report showing which are used by a dwg and where they are located.
That's an interesting one, I regularly create custom line types and add them to our templates or copy them via design centre and other users see them no problem. If you use design centre to drag them into a drawing on the PC do they show?
Thank you. I was able to find my arrow shape file in my documents folder by using the e-transmit report. What folder should the other users put this file in?
In our office we use a single support folder on the server for line types, fonts, shape files, etc. Every one's path settings point to that folder.
