Can I import mrsid format as an image file in Civil 3D?

We are about to purchase a few aerials for a project and the format to be provided is "mrsid". I am not familiar with this format and after searching online, don't find much in the ways of whether or not that file can be imported as an image file in Civil 3D. We currently use Civil 3D 2019. Will this file type simply insert with the standard image command or do I need to do something to convert it? How have you guys handled this format? Thanks.

MrSID is a proprietary compressed file format that Civil 3D handles easily. You can use MAPCONNECT, MAPIINSERT, or if you have Raster Design you can use IINSERT.

If you need just part of the SID file LizardTech has a free viewer  "LizardTech GeoViewer" that you can use to open the SID zoom in to what you want and you can them export the current view to an image with some options including the resolution. Make sure you export the world file with it. You can then use mapiinsert to bring it in. It reads the world file and will come in scaled and in the right place. I use this for all the different County GIS images where we just need our project site.
