How to calcutale ROW coordinates based on CENTERLINE segments/ distances

to help the field surveyors for data collection with in ROW

What surveying device will the surveyors use? What I would do, and what is the simplest, is provide them with the CL alignment, and a range of stations for each ROW width: Sta 61000-70250, ROW = 125 LT/RT. Most surveying devices can lay out an alignment with offsets in the field, so they could "stake" the ROW Lines without the need to set points..

 

Or, look at the ways to set points on an alignment (Right click Points in Toolspace, select Create, then explore the option s in the point creation dialog.. You can divide an alignment into a number of equal length segments with a COGO point set at each endpoint, or measure an alignment at a specified interval with a COGO point set at each endpoint. You can specify that the points should be at certain offsets, so that if you give it a range of stations it should set points for you at 125 LT/RT at the specified interval. Or you could turn each ROW polyline into an alignment and set points using the above methods with 0 offset.

 

If you want the surveyors to do cross sections on even stations try to set the points on those same even stations.

You have the ROW defined by Polyline. You can set points by Measure Object, AeccCreatePointMeasureObject. Adjust Station/offset as needed to make the points fall as you wish.

Dear Friend,

To me it looks a bit tedious task. This is the way how I would do it. May be some other have expert idea.

You have a CL here and you need the offsets at the ROW. So the basis is the ROW points need to be perpendicular to the stations of CL.

1. Unlock the layers if needed.

2. Then create a feature line from the CL. Make sure you do not delete the polyline.

3. Add PI to the feature with increment. Here I see your increment as 250.

4. You have several offsets in your ROW. You can offset the feature line according to the desired offset.

5. Then convert the feature lines to polylines and trim the unwanted polyline parts and make it a single polyline for each ROW.

6. Then adjust the automatic description and elevation for point creation tools in point creation tools panorama. In this video you would find how to set it up.

7. Then from point creation in ribbon go to miscellaneous-->Automatic. First do this only for one side left or right.

8. Select the ROW polylines you created. Then it will create the points at your station related 250 offset at CL.

9. There are some additional points that need to be added. You can add them manually.

10. Make the points numbers visible. 

11. Create a point report. The points numbers should increment from low side to high or vice versa since we selected one side of ROW.

12. Now you can mark the offset on the point report by visually inspecting the point numbers on drawing at changing locations because most of the times the offset is constant. This is simple excel work. 

13. Do the same for the other side as well.
