Add Multiple Vertices to Polyline

I want to drape a polyline over a surface (create feature from object) but also would like to add vertices on the polyline before draping.  It's been awhile since I've done this and don't remember how.  Could not find this in a search either.

Thanks,

Do you want the vertices to be at a certain increment, or wherever you cross a TIN line, or other random locations?

Accepted solution

Use the modify feature line (even though it's not a feature line it will work).

Insert PI

Increment (I used 10')

That's it.

will this update the elevations with the surface?  have not tried increment on a feature line before.

If you add vertices first and then drape it, each one will inherit the surface elevation at that location.
If you drape first, the existing vertices will be updated to the surface elevation at their locations. If you then add vertices, their elevations will be interpolated between the elevations of the existing vertices.

Too bad that didn't work on the powerball ticket!

It will be more accurate to set increment first then use the "Set elevations from Surface" and make sure to turn off the "Insert intermediate...." toggle.

If that worked for powerball then I could use the Accept Solution for Life button
