C3D19 CA ZONE 6 PROJECTION PROBLEM

Hello,

I have a series of points in the attached .csv point file organized by #,DECLat,DECLong,Elev,Code in terms of the NAD83 reference frame.  I know these points are in the San Diego area, so CA State Plane, Zone IV.

I have set up my C3D19 dwg to have the above coordinate system specified.  I created a point file format that substitutes Northing and Easting for DEC lat and DEC Long.  I tried to import the points via the Point Import method and via Survey Database, and the points are way off.  I do the same process in C3D18, and all imports fine.

Can others confirm this map projection error in C3D19 on their end?

Thanks in advance.

Mike, I think the coordinates in the text file are actually lat and long. Coordinate values for CA83-VIF are E-6,xxx,xxx N-2,xxx,xxx

Make sure your point file format is using DECDEG-Lat (eg-32.xxxx) and DECDEG-Long (-113.xxxx) for the two horizontal data columns. On the import dialog, make sure to check "Do coordinate transformation if possible."

For me, I end up with points on an air force base. I presume that's where you were?

Thanks Kevin.  Yes the .csv file had Decimal Degree lat/longs in terms of NAD83.  Which version of C3D did you use?

I'm seeing the error only in C3D19 when trying to import this point file (with the appropriate import/export point file set up with decimal degrees and my drawing coordinate system set to CA SPC Zone 6).  The same point import process works perfect in C3D18.

Yes should be on Miramar Air force base.

Have you tried a drawing set in UTM?

Mike,
I don't have 2019, but I noticed something about your drawings.
Your 2018 drawing is in CA83-VIF and your 2019 drawing is in CA83-IVF. Looks like a Roman Numeral problem.

Mike,

California is the only state to use Roman Numerals to identify State Plane Zones. Alaska(10 zones) and Hawaii(5 zones) don't. I tried Googling to find out why, but I came up empty-handed.
