C3D can you create Geotag on a pdf

Is there a way to geotag your pdf in Civil or in Revit for that matter?

I know you can do it in Bentley Microstaion - here you can plot to a pdf_Georef.pltcfg file. Then you can import your pdf to your mobil phone and then see your location on the pdf.

I don't think you can (would be cool if you could) but the pdf is just a plot. It's probably easier to export points etc and import them into the GPS software on your mobile phone

Hello @imn

As far as my knowledge goes I'm not aware doing this with a PDF in Civil 3D but, I found this blog post Georeferenced DWF Files that might offer another solution to this problem. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Hello @imn

I'm just checking in again to see if you need more help with this. Did the suggestion I provided work yesterday for you?

Hi Wendell,

No it did not help. I need to be able to geotag pdf not dwf files.

I agree with mmcgovern, a PDF is a DUMB PLOT FILE, the coordinates have been scaled to paper, rounded to 2 decimal places (for a compact content stream) and it's FLAT.

Hello @imn

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, this is not possible to Geotag your PDF in C3D. The Georeferenced DWF would be the best alternative solution I have to provide for the problem.

@M_c3d suggestion on exporting points and importing them into the GPS software on your mobile device could also offer an alternative solution as well. Something worth looking into depending on what you are trying to achieve.

You're also welcome to share this ideal on the AutoCAD Civil 3D Ideas for future product features directly with the AutoCAD Civil 3D team and collaborate on existing suggestions with your peers and if you have additional comments specific to the software or its functionality for future consideration, please use the Product Feedback page. How to provide feedback on Autodesk products goes into more detail.
