building a surface from feature lines

I am new to Civil 3D, but I have created several feature lines that I want to build a surface from. I have created the suface, but need to know the next step for adding the feature lines to the surface so I can build it.

Create your surface, go to definition_breaklines (right click), add breaklines give them a name, and select the feature lines. All done.

Go to the Surface definition and add them a breaklines or select them, right click and select "Add to Surface as Breakline".

I too have created several feature lines, (EOP, BOC, etc.) and would like to create a surface. I created a new surface and tried the select all and add to surface as breakline. I get an error message, "Error adding breakline.". I have tried adding them individually and some get added, some cause the same error message. I was hoping to use the "program tools" to grade the surface in place of hand drawing and calculating a TIN surface, but I can't get the program to cooperate.

Did you ever get an accurate reply to your question? I'm trying to build a surface along a road, but I don't have any other points besides the ones along the road. Someone told me to build a surface using a feature line that goes from point to point along the road and then offset said feature line. So I did that, but now what?

1. go to prospector tab

2. create a surface

3. go to definition

4. right click the breaklines

5. select "add"

6. Add your name in description

7. select feature lines

it's done.
