Breaklines for creating river in Surfaces

Anonymous

Hi,

I have a problem with my surface when I am adding breaklines. First, I have created a surface from points. It all came out very smooth with my contour lines. Than with 3dpolyline I added the contours of the river. When that "undersurface" was created, my contour lines for the river changed very strange (see the attached picture. The Blue line is the river, the brown lines are minor lines and the green lines are major lines). The elevations of the opposite points of the river are similar, and I can't smooth the contour lines.

Thank you.

You may do better if you make an independent surface of just the river.  Then paste it into your original surface.

Thank you very much wfberry.

This is one, but slower solution.

In the meantime I searched through the civil3d, and when you go Surface Properties>Definition>Build just set the maximum and minimum elevation you are seeing in the points.

Hi,

I feel that there is some sudden elevation drop in your 3D polyline of the river.

Select your 3D polyline and create a quick profile. There you will see if there is any sudden drop in elevation.

You can select 3D polyline and go to properties. Then you can check elevation of each vertex and identify where the wrong elevation is.

Thanks

In the file with the points, there is no sudden drop of elevation. When I'm creating the surface, they suddenly appear. But, the both ways explained in the previous comments, can fix the job.

Thank you anyway.

Looks to me that you have bad elevation in the blue lines and it would be best to fix it as opposed to restricting elevations in the build
