Boreholes - fishing for ideas

Hey!

Anyone tried to tackle boreholes, IN ANY WAY, without the geotechnical module?

As the title says, i'm fishing for ideas. For now, as i see it, it'll be a quick preparation and on to the regular CAD and manual work

well, i'm gonna do some multi-surface modeling, maybe solids and crossection presentations, but i would like to include some sort of bore representation. As in a simple cylinder with a material/colour.

But  so far, whatever came to mind regarding the cylinders (point style or something else) includes SOME picking around manualy. maybe in the end, the simplest way to get to it is just do the surfaces, and extrude the points (circles at the point wich is lets say top of bedrock) to the next level above/below. Think i might just organise my data in a manner suitable for a "multiple" command 🙂

Side note - i've used, on/off, Civil 3d since it's 2009 or 10, not sure. And since i'm in a geotechnical company, it was always interesting to me, the bores. Now, whatever you wanna build, you NEED to have exploratory bores or some other fashion of testing the materials for the desing. It's a prerequsite. And Civil 3d not having something to manage it pre-built is just...dunno 😕

Yes both with the geotechnical module and drawing up borelogs in autocad. Geotech module is good for quick visualisation, changing displays etc and I think it is a great add on to civil3d. The only reason I draw up in autocad is because I want to have 2 separate elevation scales (one being depth, the other being RL). So the RL 'ruler' is a block that I slide up and down manually. Last time I looked there wasn't a cheap package around that could draw that up automatically.

It would if i was into logs now. I do logs in another SW, would like to transfer to the module but the company is deaf for now..

However, in this situation, i'm after a planar, sectional and 3d model representation of interesting zones. I know how to do a lot of stuff quickly, was just wandering if anyone else did something similar. For instance, 100 boreholes with 5-8 subdivisions, done and done in a matter of minutes with something along the lines of "import points from a file" 😉

As i said in the previous post, as soon as i asked the question i got an idea. It might prove usefull to someone, so i'll screencast it once in power 😉

Hi 

Just wondering why you want to do boreholes without the Geotechnical module, Is there something you need to do it doesn't do?

I'm the product designer so am always keen to hear ideas.
