Block won't explode and Civil 3D goes into not responding mode

I've been given a drawing (which I can't share) that has Civil objects contained in several blocks e.g. EGL and proposed. I have selected and one and hit EXPLODE and Civil 3D has been Not Responding for 10 minutes and counting. I don't know how the blocks were created and I can't think why they wouldn't explode.

I have WBLOCKED the blocks and in the resulting drawings the civil objects appeared in the Prospector tree as I'd expect so I have been able to use the information but I'm at a loss as to why the originals won't explode so any suggestions?

...after 30 mins of not responding I killed the process...Civil 3D seems to do the "not responding" thing a bit too often

Try exporting the Civil 3d drawing to AutoCAD and see if you get the same thing.  It is very curious, this isn't something I have run into.

With the not responding, I always look to see if memory is being exchanged.  I think of not responding as 'not accepting input'.  (I'm sure you know this.)  Thanks.

Have you tried creating a new drawing and inserting a single block from the other file individually?

Is it possible there was a hidden message box. I've had Civil 3d appear to be frozen but found out that there was a hidden box waiting for input. Try Alt+Tab or Window Key + Tab
