Automatically assign unique colours to profiles within profile view?

Hi, I have around 20 alignments that I need to present about 20 surface cross-section profiles for. All surface profiles for a given alignment need to displayed at once (the client wishes to select a reference alignment from all historical beach monitoring data). Is there anyway to just automatically assign a unique style or colour to a range of profiles within a profile view?

thanks

Mick

Well, specifically it would be great if there was some way that I could associate a profile to its own specific layer when it is created - much in the same that surfaces are.

So far I've worked out how to create a new layer when profile is created (I've attached a snip in case anyone wants to know), but I can't find how to edit the default profile style such that the new profile will be controlled by this new layer.

I'm sure I'm close - but can't find it! Help.

Cheers

Will you be using this process frequently or is it a one time occasion? I would create a profile style that has the color set to "By Block". Then I'd manually select and apply a color to each profile as needed. If you expect to be doing this often then you might want to consider a custom tool. As far as I know, there is no Out of the Box funcionality that controls layer or display symbology based on the profile source data properties.

OK worked it out. Ensure that the default style for profile creation has the layers for the various profile components set to Layer 0. I hope this helps someone.

thanks Neil, you were probably typing as I was on my own little voyage of discovery. The combination of those command settings and layer style works for me. thanks for the reply
