Automatic station start/end into title block from Profile view or Plan matchlines

Hello!

I work on underground utilities and often have lengthy plan and profiles. In the title block on each page, we are required to put the start and stop stationing for the page. For example, the first page may be from station 1+00 to 8+00. In the title block description, we need it to state "STA. 1+00 to STA. 8+00". This isn't a big deal when you only have a couple pages but, on most projects, there are 50+ pages so it can take quite some time. Is there a "field" or anything that can be put in a template that links to a viewport that has a profile view in it? Is there any other suggestions?

I am using Civil 3D 2018

Thanks!

It's like Groundhog Day... I could swear I did this not too long ago

In the PP wizard you can name the layout tab ==> use the parameters {vframe start station} to Fvframe endstation}.

this in you TB setup a custom SSM field to use the SYSTEM variable "ctab"

So I think I'm on the right track with your solution! However, I don't feel like I am being as efficient as I could be. The way I read your response was that I am to change the name of the layouts in the "Create Sheets" wizard to the desired FIELD I am looking for, in this case the STA. start to STA. end. Then after the Plan and Profile drawing is made, put in the text box with the sysvariable ctab. As I do like this method because I think I can make it work, it may not be the best method because certain clients have requirements for layout tab names at the end of the project that are not the stations. However, it does seem that you can use the sysvariable ctab and then change the layout and it keeps the original name unless you go back in and update it. If you know of any other method after the fact of creating viewframes and sheets, I would be greatly appreciative to hear!

Another issue I've already ran into is the stations are 24+99.99 rather than 25+00 and when they are correct, they include extra unwanted decimals like 25+00.00. Is there a way to fix this?  I am more concerned about the additional decimals because I think it being off .01 may be a glitch in something I did.

Sorry we haven’t cracked the .00 yet. But if you are getting .99 it’s not .00

you mostly have it. By I make the field definition int eh tb first so the crab is automatic

im sure you could find a code writer to do it another way or maybe Dynamo can do it.

this is what I use. I’ll go for special code but prefer to get the program to work

Thank you! I like this solution, however, it doesn't quite work for us as most clients require the layout tabs be labeled as specific names (typically the page name). When you change the name after having the field inserted it does update to the new name.
