Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator Not Working 2017 or 2018

Hi All,

I am trying to convert some Inroads DTM's using the data translator and it isn't working. I import Bentley Inroads Project Data --> set units (metric) --> Import triangles. Nothing shows up in my job monitor at this point, as it usually would. I tried surface files from a previous project I converted a few weeks ago, so I know it's not the data. Anyone else having issues, or ever had this issue? Oh one more note I tried it using Civil 3D 2017 and 2018.

I know practically nothing in regards to Bentley and their DTMs, does Bentley have a LandXML that may be used?

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. I ended up just exporting them from Inroads as an
XML. I like doing it in Civil 3D because it's quick and easy. You don't
need to load all the projects parameters, you can simply just translate and
download in Civil. I'm still not sure why my Civil 3D translator isn't
working.

Could you post a file. I'd like to run it through and see what results I get. Just let me know what coordinate system and units. I'll see if I can get u a workflow.

Hi rl_jackson,

Sorry for the late response. When I turned my computer on yesterday and
tried the translator it was working again. I'm not too sure why it wasn't
working. Thanks for the response though.

For what it's worth, while I think that C3D is an overall superior product, Bentley does some things well. One of these is convert between Microstation/Inroads and C3D. They convert drawings better, the Inroads files better, all of it - it's consistent, not buggy like other platforms tend to be. If you have access to mstn and inroads I'd go with that. Bentley StormCAD will also convert Inroads pipe systems to a LandXML.
