Assign coordinate system of current drawing to imported ArcGIS Web-Feature-Layer

Hey there,

I am using Civil 3d 2024 and currently I try to assign my current coordinate system, which is a custom coordinate system to the ArcGIS data I am importing from a ArcGIS Map Server via URL through AutoCAD Connector ArcGIS for AutoCAD.

The coordinate system that is assigned to the current drawing is a custom coordinate system since it is not listed in the library.
I will provide you with some snapshots.
How do I do this?
Thank you!

Hi Dimitri,
More details please on what you want to do. How are you importing the ArcGIS data? Do you need to create that custom coordinate system in MAPCSLIBRARY? What are the parameters of the custom CS?

If you use a custom CS LS320 - WGS89.TM, I assume Koordinatenreferenzsystem CRS ETRS89_3GK3 (Bezugssystem ETRS89 mit Abbildungsvorschrift Gauß-Krüger, EPSG-Code: 8395, frühere Bezeichnung: Lagestatus 320) for Hamburg in Germany, check the CS definition first. Maybe you can upload an empty drawing with your custom CS. Does Command: _GEOMAP place the Areal Photo at the correct location?

Hi Dave,
I am using AutoCAD Connector (I guess) and I use the method that requires me to insert / load by URL since it is hosted ArcGIS data. I'll better provide you with a snapshot.
Yes, I think I need to create the custom CS since it is nowhere to find in the library.
It must be an old CS that has no EPSG or an old one that is nowhere to find in the library.
Thanks!

Hi Udo,
no, the _GEOMAP command does not place the aerial in the right area. It is nowhere near the right area to be more precise.
Whats the best and most reliable way to check a CS definition?
Thank you!

Please upload an (empty) drawing with your custom CS, then wie can check the CS definition.

As assumed, the CS Definition meets not the requirements.

I created a new CS "LS320" and it seems to work more properly.

Same CS but renamed to
ETRS89_3GK3_LS320
Matches to EPSG 8395
Use this empty drawing to import the CS.

I now tried the same workflow of importing ArcGIS data within the two DWGs that you provided me with.
The custom CS that you have configurated are now in the library and are assigned to the drawing/project but again the imported ArcGIS data is miles away from the existing data.
Am I missing some crucial change in workflow that I have to adapt to make this work?
Thank you very much for helping me!

Dimitri,
I know nothing about AutoCAD Connector. What is that?
Have you tried bringing in your ARCGIS data as shapefile or using an FDO Connection?

Sorry, I meant ArcGIS for AutoCAD, not AutoCAD Connector. These two are quite the same thing and as you can see I barely can differentiate between these two Plug-Ins. Both are Plug-Ins for better ArcGIS <-> AutoCAD connectivity as far as I recall.
I edited my initiate post.

Connectivity?? Yuck!

Can you download the real-deal data for testing purposes. You can connect to the data without a plug-in by using an FDO (feature data object) connection.

Can you upload your Eibe data for analysis? (Upload the data, not your dwg.)

Meanwhile with the help of Udo, we found a workflow, that works as a workaround to avoid the problems I was facing.

The workaround is documented in this thread:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/using-arcgis-connector-for-maps-with-gis-rest-services...

Thank you very much everyone, I appreciate your help and a special thanks to Udo!
