Hi there,
I’m trying to create an assembly with a lane, curb and gutter and sidewalk. I’d like the inside edge of lane to match the existing surface, the back of curb to follow a profile, and the lane slope to vary as needed. I’m not sure which subassembly to use for the lane and how to tell it to match the existing surface. My knowledge of corridors, assemblies, etc. is fairly rudimentary so please keep that in mind in the responses. Thank you!

Can you talk with me your your idea, do you want to create a assembly composer with all the like told above ? i have experience about 7 years for create subbassembly composer into Civil3D and i can help to you guide create it
Should be able to do with standard lane/curb/sidewalk setup.
- match inside lane to EG by just having a best-fit profile based on the EG surface along your center alignment
- create a layout profile for your curb and set your lane target elevation to that curb profile. You can do this either on the centerline profile view or a separate curb right/left alignment profile view
- the grade will be variable, and will be determined by the above.
Hello @Anonymous
Just checking to see if your problem has been solved. Have you tried the suggestions from above and did they work? Let us know if you still need help.
Sorry for the delayed response. I got pulled off that job and thrown into another project that was urgent, so I hadn't had a chance to dig into this. No luck so far still. I have an assembly with a lane, c&g, and sidewalk. The back of curb is attached to a finish ground profile. All good there. I have an alignment and profile (existing ground) where the inside edge of the lane is supposed to match existing. All I need to do is figure out how to target that existing ground profile so that my lane follows the existing ground at match point and the lane slope varies to accomodate.
Hi @Anonymous
Are you using the LaneSuperelevationAOR Subassembly for your Lane? if you are, then you should be able to simply target an Edge of Pavement surface profile. Create an Edge of Pavement Alignment and Surface Profile, then simply target the Profile in your Corridor.
Hope this helps,

It's hard to tell from the description, and I'm just guessing here (I highly recommend putting a screenshot or drawing attachment in the future because you're familiar with your project but other people are not)... but...
If it's a partial reconstruction or widening situation, why not just use the EG surface profile of the alignment where it's supposed to match existing has your vertical baseline of your corridor? If you have an alignment/profile for the back of curb you can just run an offset alignment/profile to find the edge of pavement location and use that as the lane outside offset/elevation target.
