I would like to be able to rename or redefine Anonymous blocks in any version of C3D.

Any suggestions?

I don't have a drawing that I know has an anonymous block to test. Have you tried RENAME?

Edit: Looks like it should work https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Rename...

The ones I have got look something like *U*...

And there are over 150 of those!

I do not think they show up in Rename or Qselect!

Some civil objects exported to 2D AutoCAD turn to anonymous Blocks!

usually, I receive them from some client!

If you want to eliminate guessing on the part of those who reply, attach a .DWG of the "anonymous blocks".  I'm guessing they are (rather were) CogoPoints and can be converted back in a second with the right tools.

Akbar,

Attached please find the Unanon.lsp which I got from >>>Here<<<. Command UnAnonall will change the names of your anonomous blocks to "TempXXX". Then you can edit them as normal blocks.

Akbar,

"...keep the attributes too?"

I don't know. Your Anonymous Blocks didn't have any Attributes to start with. I'd never even heard of an "Anonymous" Block until your post.

You can also solve it like this:

- select anonymous block, then right mouse button

- select "Copy Block Definition and Assign"

block 1.jpg

- select "no" in the next window

block 2.jpg

- In the next window you can rename your block

block 3.jpg

After This the block is like any other normal block and you can edit it in block editor.
