Alignment label that show design profile grade and direction arrow

Need help setting up an alignment label that will put the grade and flow direction arrow in plan view based on the design profile.  I can get the slope label but can not get the flow direction arrow to point the right direction.  I have the arrow set to check grade but it only comes in pointed one direction.  See image. I used a block for the arrow and is set to check grade but it only comes in one way rater its a - or + slope.

Hello,

You could set up an expression to handle this. You need a Left Arrow Block and a Right Arrow Block. Then in your Alignment Label Profile Geometry Label Text Component Editor you have to have discrete Left and Right arrow components with specific expressions to handle + or - Profile Grades.

You can also add profile geometry points to your alignment label sets, something like this.

Thanks for the help, I could not find {Tangent Grade} so I tried to just type it in and that did not work. Where do I find Tangent Grade?

Message 5 of 25

Apologies I was referencing a "Profile" label style in my snips. You will want to use Instantaneous Grade from the expression editor options.

Problem is the positioning of the arrow block will only be tied to the Profile Geometry stations of interest. It won't attach to the midpoint of the tangent segment like the Alignment Label styles allow for...kind of a bummer.

I can not find the Instantaneous Grade anywhere. The expression would need to be under Alignment line label style correct?

Hi Mike

I was wondering. I set one of these up pretty much how you show and they work except when I get to a horizontal curve the label is off. Plus I haven't figured out the doubles

Hi Joe,

The profile grade value or the text position?

the position and the duplicates. I think the values are correct unless you see something I missed

works great until a VC is added and then things get wonky

Thanks

Ah we use the crest/sag profile style for vert curves. This style (attached) is meant for profile grade on straight tangents:

I put our style w/ expressions as an attachment.

I don't follow what you saying? Did you mean yours also works best with out a VC?

I don't see a plan label for profile grade in you sample fie

Hi Joe,

I only sent the profile one. I got straight segments to work in plan but couldn't figure out the best way to anchor the direction arrows to be in the middle of the segments in lieu of the Profile Geometry points only. Vertical curves is not possible.

The Plan one is what I need even if it doesn't work on VC

Joe sent one that works at Profile Geometry stations. His is similar to what I could come up with using Instantaneous Grade expression you can add to this kind of Alignment Label style:

I don't see an option for Instantaneous Grade in the new expression here

Okay I was able to create the expression but when I go to the style and add a block before you told me to add the expression to the block height box but I don't get that option, check grade or <Specified value>
