I have a road intersection to label. There is not enough room to show the distance and bearings along each section of the alignment and the labels are messy. I want the label in black image here display like the one in white image. How could I achieve that?

You could create a label style with orientation set to View rather than object, you would then need to create another label style or create a child with a 90 degree rotation. Once label style are create go to you plan view, hold control and select the individual labels you want to change and within the properties dialogue box select the new label style within the Geometry Point Label Style.

Create a copy of your label style and add a 90 degree rotation to your line component.
