Alignment Creation from Horizontal and Vertical Control Data

Hello,

I am trying to create an alignment from the data in a horizontal and vertical control sheet. I am having a major brain fart, as it has been 2 years since I did this last, I have attached the sheet with the data. If someone could give me a quick walkthrough about the easiest way to complete this, or link a video that shows completing an alignment using data it would be appreciated.

I will get you started.  I think from your questions that you will have trouble with the spirals.

SO:

You have 4 tangents.

BC to PI

PI to PI

PI to PI

PI to EC

You have NE coordinates for each of these.  Connect them and label to check bearings.  The bearings are given on the sheet.

Thanks Bill. I was including the CS and SC points in the alignment creation, that was my problem. Appreciate the help

Hi Bill,

How are you? I am creating an alignment from the attached data. The alignment contains spirals, I haven't created alignments with spirals in a couple years. I'm having trouble remembering how to do so. My HOT is my beginning point, so am I going :

HOT to PI

PI to PI

PI to PI

or

Is it

HOT to TS

TS to ST

ST to TS

TS to ST

Or is there a different format for data I should be using? I understand the components of the spirals, I just cant remember what data points I should be drawing the tangents between.

I do this once every 2-3 years so here goes:

Lay out your main PI to PI's

I cannot determine your HOT, I am assuming the same as my POT, (Point on Tangent) (HOT to PI to PI ,etc.)

You have plenty of info it appears with NE for your PI points and the various radii.

Start the alignment with the above geometry and the program should walk you through it.
