Add/Show Line Gradient in the Properties

Hi. Is there a way to show the gradient of a line in the properties panel in Civil 3D? If not, it would be quite useful to show this as it could have quite a few benefits (e.g. checking pipe gradients without having to built a network, checking slopes without having to create labels etc.).

If you have the Sincpac-C3D add-on package and have the EntityTracker palette open you would see this when hovering over a line:

Thank you very much, Jeff. I note the package is not free, so I was hoping there would be another way of enabling that extra box in the properties.

Since the Properties Palette is basic AutoCAD. I don't know how the grade could be added.

Well, yes, but it still gives you Delta Z and length, which is all you need to work out the gradient. It should be a default option as it's quite useful.

I do agree with you. I looked into the CUI to see if it could be added to Quick Properties but it's not available. No way I know of to use and expression.

The quickest way without Sincpac, which we use, is to use CGSLIST.

Hi Allen! CGSLIST is actually really good, thank you! I like that it gives you both the slope and the gradient, so two different formats.

I tried to add it to my command aliases so I wouldn't have to type it in full every time, but Civil 3D doesn't let me do it for some reason - see attached screenshot. The command clearly works when I type it in full, so I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong... Thank you!

IN 2024.3 I added it to my acad.pgp file as

SL, *CGSLIST

and it works.  G being for Group may be an alias you can't overwrite. SL defaults to Slice but I had no problem replacing it. If you edit the PGP file remember to REINIT to test.

To see where your PGP file is use = (findfile "acad.pgp")
