Add - Remove Ribbon Tabs

I had to reinstall Civil 3D 2015 last week. I thought I had it all together but this morning I noticed that the Civil 3D Output tab was missing. I opened the CUI and opened the current workspace for customization. I was planning to turn on the output tab. But I saw that it was already checked. Thinking there might be a limit to the number of tabs I decided to remove the Autodesk 360 tab by unchecking it. In neither case can I get those changes to be applied.

I'll attach 2 images to show how it is currently set and what tabs are being shown.

While checking things over before posting and trying the same thing with the default Civil 3D workspace. The CUI often will show that no tabs are selected for the ribbon even though they are visible. I'll attach a screenshot of that.

I suppose the next thing would be to copy in the OOTB cuix from the deployment.

I don' have a solution but I do have the opposite issue with the geolocation tab. I can see the tab on the ribbon but it is no where in the cui...I have checked the current and every partial cui loaded but there is no geolocation tab in the cui at all. A repair did not fix the issue so I just gave up trying to fix the geolocation tab taking focus on every startup. Too much work for very little reward. 😮

John,

I had the same problem with the Geolocation tab. I eventually got it removed from the CUI. I don't know what I did differently that time from all the others.

I may have found a clue to my problem. The default path for the Main Customization, C:\Users\<user>\appdata\roaming\autodesk\c3d 2015\enu\support\c3d, does not exist in my installation. So I don't know what cuix it's using. Next step is to search for any occurrence and find the latest.

No. It does. I was reading c3d as part of the path. That's the cuix and supposedly was modified this morning. I'll replace it with the OOTB one and see what happens.

Allen, is the Output tab unchecked in the Show Tabs options?

That was at least most of the problem. It still didn't explain why unchecking Autodesk 360 in the CUI didn't remove it.

I backed up the c3d.cuix and replaced it with the OOTB cuix. The Output and Autodesk 360 tab showed, Output was checked. I replaced the cuix with the one I had backed up and found that Output was not checked. Checking restored it. As a test I unchecked Autodesk 360 in th CUI and this time it removed it! Just one of those strange Civil 3D things.

Thank you.

John, that is a Contextual Tab so it does not show up in the Tabs list. I don't recall if this CUI has been heavily edited for 2015, but I think this is where I found mine OOTB. All I did was change the Focus setting. This is under the Civil menu, Ribbon, Contextual Tab States.

Thanks Jeff but I had something whacky going on.

I have used the geolocation focus fix on all of our PC's here but I have always found the geolocation tab at the bottom of the Tabs section of the cui not the contextual tab section. When I installed SP3 the issue came back so I searched the tabs tree in the cui and did not find the geolocation tab... From your post I looked in the contextual tabs tree and found it and fixed the focus. Now as per the attached the geolocation tab is back in the regulat tabs section of the cui AND the contextual tabs section....

Here is the fix from the knowledge base I was using.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-civil-3d/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticle...

It aslo says the geolcation should be in the Tabs section. It seem SP3 moved it to the contextual tab section on me and then put it back in the tabs section after the focus was fixed.

Now on my laptop there is a geolocation tab in focus on startup but it is no where in the cui. I see the Geo Coordinate System Assigned in the Contextual tabs but there is no tree to expand, no geolocation tab under it and nothing in the tabs section either.
