50 mile linear project with multiple scale factors

So I am starting a 50 mile ROW project and I would like to have all the survey data, line work, etc. on ground. In turn I would like to be able to label points and annotate lines that reflect the SPC system. Is this best handled through Transformation. 

Would it be recommended to collect the survey data on ground or state plan grid?

 

Further more I am going to need about 4 different combined scale factor throughout the project. Will I need to create a dwg for each scale factor?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Roger,
Kinda depends on the terrain of your project, but a 50-mile-long project fairly screams Low Distortion Projection. That would be best of all possible worlds--ground distances and GIS friendly.
More information please on the general area, width of project, and direction.

Dave, 

Below is a screen show of the proposed CL, being 50 miles. It also shows elevations and CAFs at four locations. The current projection is Utah SPC Central Zone. The width of the corridor should probably be 1 mile. We have our top GIS person looking into this. Any advice on how to get started would be appreciated.

Looks like a nice custom Lambert Conformal Conic Projection, or maybe an Oblique Mercator would do the trick.
There's no better introduction to the subject of low-distortion projections than Michael Dennis >>>Here<<<.

Thanks again for you help. We are looking now for someone that can help create the LDP. I emailed Michael with Geodetic Analysis to see if he could help.
