2015 - MAPWSPACE

Is there a way to have the mapwspace (Task Pane) show at startup in 2015? In previous versions one could go through the ribbons to enable this but that seems to have disappearred in 2015.

In 2014 one could do this (from the Help file):

  1. In the Planning And Analysis workspace, click Map Setup tabMap panelangle-arrow.
  2. In the  'Autocad Map Optipons diagoue box' click the 'Taskpane' tab.
  3. Select Show Task Pane On Startup.

Step 2 now activates a command line set of prompts that does not set the Workspace to show at startup.

Again, how do I get the Task Pane to show in Civil 2015 at startup?

A couple of things you could try, second one will work for sure.

1. On you Workspace Gear, Go to Workspace settings and set to Automatically Save Workspace changes. Turn on MAPWSPACE and then change workspaces and change back. Should save to your workspace. You could also manually get into your CUI to set this I believe. I personally like to set the Workspace to not save changes when I'm done making changes so that I don't mess up my CUI.

2. You can add an ACAD.lsp file to your Product support directory (C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\Support). In the ACAD.lsp place the following.

(command "MAPWSPACE") - this will auto start the MAPWSPACE for every session. (you can also add other items to this lisp if desired.

Nothing has changed as far as I can tell.

Command: MAPOPTIONS > Task Pane Tab > Show Task Pane on startup

I checked this on, and it works.

Using C3D 2015.

When I type MAPOPTIONS at the command line I get command line options that do not inlcude the Task Pane (see attached). (BTW, I have fiedia set to 1)

I had tried that and it did not work.

I am now suspecting a company-built add-on is causing a problem.

Thanks for your response.

Ah, I  think I know the issue... It's a 2015 installation known issue. Map commands don't get added to the Options -> File Paths correctly so all commands are suppressed in command line.

To fix, go to Options, Files, Support File Paths and Add the following if not already there

Untitled.png

Then Apply, Ok, Close C3D and reopen. Then try the MapOptions command.

Good catch, Steve. Except the missing support path to fix this issue is:

C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2015\map\support\en-us

Replace the en-us with the language version installed.

Those paths already reside in the support path list.

Thanks for the correction @Jeff_M ; not sure how I ended up getting both paths in my options support files...

I have discovered that adding the Path, as I noted and as described in the KB article, has the negative effect (for me, maybe others) of disabling the New tab at startup when the STARTUP sysvar = 3.
